About the POMA Foundation

Supporting osteopathic medicine in Pennsylvania through philanthropy, education, scholarship.

The Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association. As a 501(c)(3), the Foundation supports POMA CME programs, partners with the PIAA to promote fentanyl awareness, and awards significant funds to osteopathic medical students, residents, physicians, and others through its grants and scholarships. Watch this short video about the Foundation: https://tinyurl.com/POMAF-2025-26.

The POMA Foundation advances public health and the osteopathic profession by:

  • Promoting osteopathic medicine to strengthen professional growth of osteopathic physicians and improve patient care in the communities they serve
  • Awarding scholarships and grants to help osteopathic medical students and residents achieve their academic and professional goals.
  • Supporting nonprofit organizations and innovative community health initiatives that make a meaningful difference in the lives of Pennsylvanians.
  • Delivering continuing medical education programs that foster lifelong learning and clinical excellence among osteopathic physicians.

In 2025, the Foundation:

Provided white coats and stethoscopes to more than 800 first-year osteopathic medical students in Pennsylvania.

Awarded over $38,000 in scholarships to 10 outstanding students and residents.

Distributed 1,100 Sketchy subscriptions worth more than $335,000 to medical students.

Supported 51 residency programs with $25,500 in Resident Wellness Grants.

Funded 7 innovative projects through the Bright Ideas Grant Program, totaling more than $21,000.
